The Future of Genesis is Possibly Very, Very Sexy

The future of Genesis is also possibly very, very electric

Displaying what Genesis calls Athletic Elegance, the Genesis Essentia Concept is an electric Gran Turismo with a carbon-fiber body. At its front, a long transparent hood centered by a Genesis Crest Grille, which works with intakes on the left and right to function as air curtains. Genesis Quad Lights flank the grille.

The concept has Butterfly doors, and fingerprint and facial recognition technology for opening doors. Though it may sound futuristic, the just-introduced 2019 Subaru Forester is implementing some of the same biometric technology in it.

The car is underpinned by a pushrod suspension.

As your eyes follow the car’s formula racing-inspired body toward the rear, muscular rear wheel arches that gracefully feed into the car’s haunches. On the back are flush rear Quad Lights, a rear diffuser surrounded by carbon fiber, and Midas metal copper detail.

A Stardust Gray Metallic paint job helps the car exude elegance, as do the rich materials in the car’s cabin. Cognac leather seats have chevron quilting. Between the front seats is a console outfitted in Oxford Blue leather with doors covered in the same color velvet. Seat belt slots are finished in treated and polished aluminum. Layered carbon fiber accents the interior.

The Essentia Concept gains its GT status by offering a large cargo space behind the rear seats for storage. Its battery pack is stored in the center tunnel, allowing for more leg- and head-room in the passenger compartment.

Will we see a version of the Essentia Concept on the streets anytime soon? That’s not likely. However, we will see some SUVs in the coming years and, if the market is right, a sports coupe may be in the company’s future.
